ABOUT PEACEFUL THREADS
THE ARTIST
Hi, My name is Candice and I am the creator and owner behind Peaceful Threads. I am a self taught designer and sewer and I started my Peaceful journey in 2018. I new I wanted to start making clothing but I wanted to stay as sustainable as possible so I looked towards buying only natural fibers like hemp, bamboo and cotton fabric. After I experienced these fabrics, there is no way I would ever want to make anything with any other fabric. It's simply the best fabric out there. I try to keep it local and buy from a family owned business in Pennsylvania. For now this is where I buy from until I find something else I feel comfortable using. I create my own patterns, cut and sew the pieces together and this for now is my one man show. I have also recently become more involved in upcycled fashion so keep an eye out for those one of a kind pieces. This is my small handmade business and thank you so much for stopping by. Please message me if you have any questions or requests. Much love. Live simply.

UPCYCLED
Upcycled clothing has become very popular in recent years. This is where you take an already made garment and change it up to make it your own. The ideas are endless. I love upcycling jackets by adding new sleeves, hoods and patches. The concepts are forever changing depending on how the piece speaks in its original form. This is by far one of my favorite ways to create fashion art. All upcycles are a one of a kind pieces and most likely will only ever be made once so get it while it's hot!
HEMP FABRIC
Hemp is basically nature's purifier. The plant rapidly captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and makes what we breathe much cleaner. In fact, for every tonne of hemp produced, 1.63 tonnes of carbon is removed from the air (which makes hemp a much more effective sequester of Carbon Dioxide than trees).
Hemp requires little water. In other words, our need for crops that use less water grows with every season. By most estimates, hemp is considered a non-water intensive crop. This makes it a more sustainable choice than cotton, especially.
Hemp has four times the strength of cotton; It won't weaken when washed. Hemp retains color better than any other fabric. It saves Water! Hemp uses only 1/20th the amount of water as regular cotton to grow and process.
BAMBOO FABRIC
Bamboo is 40% more absorbent than even the finest organic cotton, wicking moisture away from the skin much faster and keeping you dry and comfortable easier. Bamboo can take in three times more water than its weight which once made into a fabric, means that it also is able to get rid of moisture faster.
Bamboo can be a very sustainable crop: a fast-growing grass, it requires no fertilizer and self-regenerates from its own roots, so it doesn't need to be replanted. When compared to cotton cultivation, which requires large amounts of water, pesticides, and labor, the advantages are pretty clear.
Bamboo fabric is made from the fibers of bamboo shoots that have matured at least four years. ... The resulting fabric is not only durable, but also soft, absorbent and antibacterialÂ
